1965 Cobra Daytona Coupe: Paint Part II

A spoon test revealed the following.

All spoons were primered with Tamiya white. Spoons in front were then painted with TS-19 Metallic Blue (left) and TS-93 (Pure Blue). Spoons in the rear were painted with the TS-53 Deep Metallic Blue, which we all agree is too dark, then with TS-19 and TS-93 respectively, to see if I can get away with simply putting on another coat of a lighter colour or do I need to strip and start over.

The result, TS-19 over the original TS-53, is much better, although I maintain that metallic paint at 1/24 really doesn't look that good.

Stay tuned!

1965 Cobra Daytona Coupe: Paint Part I

The instruction sheet for Model Factory Hiro's 1/12 Cobra Daytona Coupe recommends Tamiya TS-53 Deep Metallic Blue, so I figured that should work for the 1/24 kit as well.

Sadly, this is not the case as the photos show. So next will be a trip to the hobby store for a can of TS-19 Metallic Blue. Stay tuned.

1965 Cobra Daytona Coupe: Chassis and interior are complete

The fit is imperfect but no one will notice once it's all on the shelf -- the key is that it sits square on all 4 wheels. Now I no longer have an excuse not to tackle the bodywork. Stay tuned!
