956 Pickup: Bodywork

Well, the 956 Pickup body suffered some fairly catastrophic damage which I won't describe in any detail, since you are not really likely to be interested. Of course this has nothing to do with the fact that my own stupidity had plenty to do with it.

While disastrous, this unfortunate event afforded the opportunity to start over and do it better this time. First pics are pre-disaster:

Lots of room in the storage locker for a 956 motor.

The chassis survived intact so this should be relatively quick.

Cleaner side inlets this time around, but the front clip isn't as tidy.

Paint is now on. Tamiya TS-12 Orange is a little on the red side, but Testor's 1208C Light Blue is perfect.

The Tamiya paint went on first as you can't really put acrylic on top of enamel.

It's looking good, and the trick of putting on a light coat of clear to seal the tape seems to have worked as there is no bleed through to speak of.

The deck will have to be hinged and open because it won't shut properly otherwise. But first I have to keep my filthy mitts off it for a few days while the paint hardens.

Looking good! Stay tuned, this has been in the works for almost 4 years now and I hope to finish it soon. The interior needs assembly, and there will be some tweaking of the body, but it is all very close.
